Non-US Citizen Driver’s License

Please refer to the New Hampshire DMV instructions, and pay special attention to the following items:
1. “If you are providing a license from your home country, you will be required to pass a full examination (vision, knowledge and road tests), and provide a copy of your driving record/history from your home country. If you are unable to get an official driving record from your home country, a police, criminal or insurance letter may be provided proving that your home country driver license is not under suspension. A notarized translation is required if these documents are not in English. Please note that an International Driving Permit is not acceptable for this requirement.”
The official name of driving record/history may vary by cities in China. Please consult your local officers and get the document proving you have driven before (e.g. start from when until now. Note that having a license doesn’t necessarily mean that one has driven on real roads, so both license and driving record/history are important).
2. “Applicants who cannot provide a valid home country driver license or a valid US driver license, or under the age of 18, will be required to complete an approved New Hampshire Driver Education course.”
